Re: More Information from Investigation of KHV
Thanks for that Steve; I found the most interesting observation at the end where they show that the mucus contains a virus inhibiting agent. With our modern industrial methods it won't be hard to separate out this inhibiting agent from mucus. I am not saying that it will lead to a cure but anything ...

Re: What is the optimal interval between feeds
Hi Gazza
How frequently is your auto feed dropping food in the pond, that is the nub of myquestion?
Having tried various gaps between feeds I have found 2-3 hour feeds seem to be right for mine.
They get treats by hand and always come for those as well.

What is the optimal interval between feeds
Hi Guys; I have posted a similar question on another forum but I think I may aget a reasoned answer here based on facts about koi digestive physiology not just opinions. If we assume we know how much food we want to give in 24 hours, our filters are mature and can cope and it is summer and the water...

Re: anoxic filters.
Hi Manky The hole is probably due to the way it is extruded before firing only a guess. :?: On a more serious note I am adding an anoxic filter, having gone through the science, which all makes sense, and seen the posts of them in use for many years with minimum of maintainance. I will post pictures...

Hi Guys
I was looking back through the archive and couldn't find and end to this thread?
Does anybody know what the final diagnosis was as it looks strange to me and I would like to know the answer.

Should antibiotics be used in combination in sick fish?
On the ****** koi forum web site I found a list of antibiotics and doses. In the post was a comment “These two can be used at full strength together, to give a broad spectrum”. Which sort of implied that the two following antibiotics in the article could be used together to increase efficacy. Which ...

Re: Gills
Hi Gazz and Kev;
I have also heard that gills don't repair and from my experience this seem true having seen and followed up a couple of fish with severe gill flukes. Three moths after the treatment for flukes the gills were scared with no sign of regrowth.

Re: Can fish feel fear or pain?
Hi Guys; Well pain is a funny thing. It is very subjective and minor pains hurt more when you are unhappy or miserable about life in general i.e. there is an emotional element to the perception of pain in man. There is a lot of evidence in primates, happy monkeys with arthritis behave like they have...

Choosing the right antibiotic ?
How do we choose which antibiotics to give our koi ? We all know that our ponds teem with life of all sorts especially bacteria. I started thinking that if we knew what bacteria where in our ponds and which antibiotics they were sensitive to, whenever we had a bacterial infection problem we could ma...

Re: outcome of the court case
I am delighted for you and Polly I guess, knowing how this sort of dispute goes, there is always a bit of give and take even if one or otherside doesn't see it this way. The good news it's done and dusted and you can get on with your lives now without the black cloudy of uncertainty hanging over you...

Re: Where do you keep your stuff
Hi Gazza; Most of my stuff is in an old fridge in the garage unless otherwise specified on the label........ most of our stuff is happy at 6 degrees which is what the fridge is set at. The labels normally say store at room temp. Room temp is defined as zone 2 for storage i.e. 6 - 25 deg C. Reconstit...

Hi guys This post is Baytril* related but is primarily to make me feel better and to avoid my blood pressure going through the roof. I just received my latest copy of a well known koi magazine this morning. I was having a quiet read when I came across a question from allegedly an unnamed “vet” who w...
