A Hello all - new pond on it's way

Post by Ki Ogon »

Hi all,
I've only just signed up & couldn't find a 'right place to say hello :? so Hello! I've been around for years & recognize some of the names here already, can't recall if I was on here before or not  it must be my age

Having kept Koi for 30 years now, been most places & got the T shirts, but fell out of the loop for a while - now I'm back :D
I have 11 x 7 or 8 year olds in a 1600 gallon system at the moment, all happy & healthy - but to be honest a bit fat & under-exercised, they've been filtered by Answer, Fluidized K1, JapMat all year round + skimmer with brushes & JapMat in the summer. I had some old timers, 2 of them well into their 30's A Matsukawabake & an Asagi, who finally gave up this spring.

What I now hope to achieve is a deserving home for my 11 youngsters + about 5 or 6 new guys (over a period of time) all will be carefully quarantined, bought small & grown on before they meet the other residents.

So next pond is going to be the final version - basically close to the house, 14' x 8' x 6' 1 end down to 8' deep, box welded butyl liner, 2 x bottom drains to 2 x Sequence 15000s to 2 x Bakki House Showers. Then a skimmer circuit with a Sequence 8000 to Hidroclean to Cloverleaf 48W Smartstart to Electro 6KW to return. All under a Pergola encompassing a patio area, with option of polycarbonate sheet enclosure in winter.

I have already de-commissioned my small pond - a 7' round 800 gallon - from Champion Mouldings - presently sitting here looking for a buyer if anyone's interested? (Cloverleaf CL2 already sold.)

Cheers - looking forward to making some new acquaintances on here :)

hi and welcome to koi quest , look forward to your new pond build in piccys ...we like lots of piccys on here and we dont bite , one thought though with a pond this big and well filtered is fibreglassing out of the budget and i dont see a lot of cost difference between a box liner and glass , might be worth asking around for a price or two for you plunge in .....try grp john or dave arnold for quotes ....do it once do it right 8) 8) 8) welcome aboard
