Water butt repair.

Post by Russ Little Pond »

Hello all,

I have a big green water butt that I want to use instead of the vortex I was after, for K1 but on checking the water butt over i`ve found an 8" vertical split 8" from the base, what is the best method/way of making a strong lasting repair ??

Thanks Russ.

Just get a glass fibre patch kit from Halfords. Good as new in no time!!

Russ,
What is the butt made of? If it is made of polyethylene or polypropylene then you are better off getting rid of it as these are almost impossible to repair securely and /or economically. Fibreglass in NOT an option. Better off shopping about for a plastic barrel.

Thanks for the replies,

It`s a plastic of some sort I can`t give you more info about it, I went to the local diy store and found a water butt 200ltrs with lid for £14.00, it`s already got in and out feeds plus drain holes cut and conectors fitted, just got to pipe it into the system.
