Spots on Tail

Post by benchg »

Hi,
I have realised one of my koi had some spots on the her tail and some on pedal fins as well. it looks like a koi pox ,the pond temperature is 20c for last few weeks , should not have any koi pox in there I think. I'm worrying this symptom get worst and spread to the other koi. Does anyone have this symptom with your koi before? Please help
cheers
Ben

Ben, yes it looks like pox but for my money its the early start of dermocystidium, i say this because there are points to the tops of the lessions. pox does not grow into peaks/points

what you will find is they will vanish for a while then come back worst than the pervious time, they vanish because they burst and release spores into the water then reform again but they get a little more mature each time till eventually they look like the cahg in the thread below

its a real bugger to get rid of fortunetly for you i have developed a treatment read this http://www.koiquest.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... =2&t=11950

Thanks Duncan for the reply, after reading the long thread,
It's very hard to get rib of Dermo. Not sure how s Paul and Steve koi now? as they didn't post the new pics.
First option, I may go to do the surgical treatment to remove it, as you can see by the pics , all these nasty are not growing in bulk on the same part, I think I may require two or more treatments to remove them.
Second option, I still hope it's not Dermo, Fish looking health and hungry for food all the time apart from unsightly pox plugs it s no way to get the suitable topical treatment for it. So i may leave it until it get worst.
Any suggest ?
Cheers
Ben
