John,

It was 500 gallons an hour, then the pump went haywire and was at 120 gallons per hour. Fitted a new Aquamax 5500 to replace it's predecessor, but haven't measured the output on this one. I'm sure it's more as I had to throttle back the delivery valve to the showers.

Another thing to do the weekend - measure the output!

Fast turnover, heavy feeding, 25-degrees - something better work out LOL

Bob that’s some flow going through what seems to be a small amount of k1,
What’s in there about 5 liters this would make it more impressive than I first thought?
I am sure you will be rewarded.

John,

Have you signed up to Dunc's health seminar/workshop yet? Likely to be in the midlands somewhere next year, should be great fun.

Just seen the bio chip in chit chat, good picks by the way
I think this explains my question a little better regards to mature k1 working better than new k1 in reducing the super fines.
Or is this still a no no because of the environment the easy creates.
Any updates bob.

John,

I'm still not 'up on' the Bio chip thingy, seems very over the top - perhaps when more info is available I'll understand it better. The thought seems to be that introducing 'another' media helps with differing bacteria to thrive. I'm sure there's something else far cheaper that you could throw in there with the K1 and K1 seems to do a great job on it's own anyway, so why add to it - I've obviously missed something LOL

Anyway, did a wash today couldn't wait until tomorrow. I hadn't noticed any difference in water levels, so water was still passing through the K1 at the same rate and it wasn't blocking. Horrible green mucky mess came out again when washed, so it is removing a 'load' from the pond water. Seems to do the job which everyone else who has created something like this, said it would do.

Will test the throughput tomorrow morning.

Question for you John - why co2 and not Goldy?

Hi bob
I can’t see any thing getting past you m8.
Just putting aside for the moment settlement of crud tracking and do levels associated with other filtration.
Just the media. In question here.
Please correct me if I am wrong k1 was introduced because it had the advantage of renewing the bacteria on the outside because of the constant rubbing together of the media in the fluidized state, the new bacteria more able to consume pollutants at a higher rate than old and the internal part of the k1 would be left untouched for the inhabitants to continue to thrive untouched.
So are ea now saying the inhabitants of the internal passages are better at cleaning the water of pollutants and this is why the have created a larger protected internal area than external?

Was you expecting the k1 to rise bob if it got too full, the mini looks to be doing an excellent job and will show just how good static k1 is even at small amounts.
Any signs from the koi.

Co2 seems to have more relevance towards koi keeping /water chemistry than given credit for I wasn’t trying to mislead anyone.
I am sure one day it will be a useful reading along with all the rest.
Regards john
