Re: Russ's New Pond
a bit more done.today was 'backfill day' we shifted the mountain of clay/soil from off the 'lawn' (sorry missus) and backfilled all the way around. all the footings for the wall & fence are now back to normal. rain has now stopped play AGAIN !, but to be fair it has been a good day weather-wise.
tomorrow I can start with the 1st of 5 courses of upright blocks.

Hi Russ
That's interesting so your going 4 blocks high laid upright with an outer skin of brick, anything in between ?
If it fibreglassed that will increase the strength , just asking as my neighbour just asked the best way to build above ground and I thought to be safe 9" hollows or lay blocks flat.
Don't worry I always over engineer everything.
Looks great though best regards Terry

it is 5 blocks , upright, above ground, with an outer 'facing' brick wall on 2 sides tied in with wall ties, the back sides are double blocked upright with wall ties.

hoping to have the facing bricks done by next weekend , then it could be filled. need to move the nexus over fromthe temp pond, so a bit of messing about to do there, don't want to kill my fish off, lol. preparing filter shed base at the moment. should be seeing water & fish in there in about 2 weeks time.
