Re: Sealing Slate
CLEAR G4.
Re: Sealing Slate
Why do you want to seal the slate? It's impermeable and won't affect the water parameters. I've used it in fish tanks with very soft water for years and it's never made a difference. All you need to seal is the mortar used to bed it in. Sealing it with Clear G4 will make it all shiny and change its appearance radically.
Re: Sealing Slate
HI Max do not seal that slate, G4 will not adhere to it and will peal off over time, as Ed has said slate is about as tuff as it gets, to be honest I wouldnt even bother with the bed joints.

Re: Sealing Slate
I have slate coping stones around my pond and nothing is sealed (stones or cement).
I've never had a problem from them.

Hello Everyone
I wanted to to put something on it as the slate looks better wet ..maybe i should have posed my question a little different
If there isnt anything .. i am not worried ..just so pleased to have it nearly finished.

Re: Sealing Slate
Maxine, I felt like you when my coping stones first went on (prefer the wet look!!!!!!)
I now like it the way it is, and they are a good indicator of when it is starting to rain
