As Summer is supposedly here, just wondering if anyone has managed to take advantage of the increased temperatures and are heating their ponds by any solar or 'free heat' methods?
Is anyone pushing water through rolled up black pipe to heat it and returning it back to the pond?
I'm sure people will be interested in anything anyone is doing along these lines
Any new solar heating devices 'invented'?

Re: Any new solar heating devices 'invented'?
I'm still using the one I posted last year http://www.koiquest.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8068" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but I must say that last week I had to close it up as the temp ranged close to 28C.
I have built a decking cover for it now so that when the temp gets too much I can close it down. I must say that the unit is only small but the output on any sort of sunny day is unbelievable.

Phil,
Was it just gravity fed, in and out, no pump?

I have a constant flow of fresh water from the mains Bob (I know, cringe but I have been doing this for over 30 years) the unit is over the dump tank which is fed from the Nexus the tank is a 1'000 litre tank with two Eco 15000 in. other than the mains water the system is gravity fed with an overflow.

Looks a great set up Phil
Are you heating the mains water coming into the pond? Or pond water gravity through the unit?

The heat is on the mains into the tank Bob, although I have a heater on the pond as well, I don't think it's been on this year.

Nice one Phil, have you got a close up pic of that solar door and how you propped it up?
