I'd say this is a 'how long is a piece of string' question - but if you start thinking about £1,500 per 1,000 gallons plus fibreglassing costs on top of that, you should not be too horrified.
Am sure in the current financial climate you can find builders who will do it for less and there are always corners that can be cut and stuff you can do yourself that will affect the final figure.

If a jobs worth doing its worth paying a skilled tradesmen to do it, Skilled tradesmen do a fare days work for a fare days money.
The one thing You dont want to do with any build is cut corners, tut tut tut. Corners cut in the build will just lead to massive headaches further down the line
stick with the cl2 filter to keep cost down i have modifyed my cl2 with k1 air and i think it will do double what its ment for even though i have 1500 gallons it will do 3000 with all the mods i can forward photos and small vid clip if you need it also i made my own mannifold with two 8mm tails with 1/4 bsp valves then 10 6mm pushfit airline fittings all the fittings cost £50 i have one more bit of nylon to make one more manifold if you choise to keep your cl2 i will make you one for free all you need is the fittings i can get them if you need email if interested in photos the water thats now coming from the filter is like drinking water all the levels are spot on
all you need is 10 bulkhead fittings ,10 90 dree bends, two tails two valves, 10 1/4bsp stright fittings for manifold ,10 air stones, 20 metres 6mm push fit pipe
the whole bill with k1 cost me £110
you will need to get somthing to stop k1 washing in to bay 4 nice soft nylon and use gold seal to hold in place i used the propper clear stuff first time from fish shop it was usless you only get what you pay for the gold seal will seal under water its messy but magic stuff i drained the filter and done it left it for 48 hours solid after that ,i stuck a air stone in pond for two days fish were ok i only droped the water level in filter just enough to do the job

Static k1 then fluidised k1 then japmat then rock & foam. Works well. I guess if I sank it in the ground then it would gravity feed in and pump out.
I could use 16000 eco without cage etc externally?
Although when used in this way it runs at a constant all year where as now it slows automatically in cooler water.
Could one do withough filter and build a 4 section brick filter???
i have read a few subjects on here about brick built filters a lot say that its hard to work out what you really need and its very hard to change once you have built it i am sure a lot here will tell you the best solution to your needs and the other thing with not building but buying a nexus or the like off is that you can add to most here who have the cash have showers ect but a shower with bhm can set you back £800 or more unless you build one can put put a photo of your cl2 with lid of on as i am always looking at going a step better
The settlement is at back of pond and the CL2 is behind the fence, I would probably dig out the pond to a formal shape and make higher, poss with window.
