hi all
i a bit new to all this
i have been thinking to my self about makeing a purifier
4in pipe about 3ft long and inlet and out let with 4kg of carbon
any thourghs on this still looking for carbon that cheep
cheers jim
it looks like you have made a nice job of it seems like you know your plumbing i would try to get a pre filter on it as well as you will be surprised by the amount of crap it will stop getting to the pond and it will help slow the flow so the carbon can do a better job with a small filter you dont want the tap on full and a flow meter so you know wene to change the carbon
The problem you will have is after a short while the water will track through the pipe, if you have not fitted a system at each end to force the water through, if the inlet and outlet are in the same place. This will effect contact time on the carbon and it will not react properly.
just a thought all the ones you buy have a fine filter in the ends so carbon dont get washed out its like a tea stainer but finer
have you fitted them as you need one on both so you can back wash it also if you had fitted the inlet stright on the top and had a pipe going to bottom and out let at the top water would have to travel back to top thats normally how they work so you can stand it up i know the fittings you have used are not cheep so dont want to keep making them so its worth trying yours and get some readings from the water
i have got inlet at the bottem out let at the top with nonreturn value on both ends
the top has srew top so i can change the carbon will post more photos later in week
up to now it has cost 30 quid
