Help with compact sieve

Hi
i used to run an answer on my set up and always cleaned the screen with caustic soda (cheap from b&q)
chuck the screen in a tub of warm water with the soda for half an hour and make sure you give it a good rinse after.
If it can unblock drains it will clean a screen, Never had a problem with this just make sure you wear rubber
gloves as this can burn skin.
