uplift first fix

Post by vippymini »

Hes been out in the rain putting together the first fix of the uplift system to see how keep the pipes stable and to workout how much air is needed.
also done a bit to the frame for the window to see how it looks

more to do on the skimmer circuit which will have the same 9 uplifts

what do you think the flow is then questers, its going to be a bit hard to measure. i think were going to measure the retention time in the filter instead.

hi
i got years of experience with uplift or airlift as we aquarists call it
good thing about it is that even with a 60ltr/hr airpump or compressor you can lift ,with a very corse airstone and 10 outlets, upto 5000ltrs of water above waterlevel
this rate increases if you have the outlets at waterlevel or below
the bigger the bubble the more water is lifted
just that inch or 2 lower makes a big difference
with fine airstone like oak for example, you would hardly lift anything but the pump would still deliver the same amount of air volume

its simple physics and i run my whole fish house plus my mini pond on a 3000ltr/hr hailea pump
with a high quality, high volume Hi-Blow Pump, don't come better then those, you could filter quite a large pond
