4" concrete blocks on their sides will be well strong enough... that's how i did mine.... it's like an air raid shelter

Ok the ground is a lot more difficult and have just found out my step son is moving in with u in January so may have to reduce the size of pond to save some cash on running costs.
+ it now means i may adventually have to buy somewhere bigger
So am probably going 12x8x6 aprox 3000 gallons but as i keep reading its better to have a smaller pond you can afford to run than a big one which could make things tight.
So am continuing to dig the existing pond down. Have come accross a 4 inch thick and 6 12 inch wide concrete lip all the way round which will help support the above ground wall.
Am currently almost 3 foot deep all the way round but have hit more stubborn surfaces.
Can you lay 4inch solids upright as long as you backfill with concrete ?
