as an answer to if these can be run out of the water (dry mounted) i cant see any reason why they cant. they are all roughly the same design as the original aquamax and therefore must use the water running past the impeller to cool the pump. we have a couple of other repro pumps that run in the dry mode with no problems. later today i'll put them to the test and get one, when it arrives i'll get hubby to whack it on the little pond to see what happens. at under £40.00 including postage i still think its a bargain to put away as a stand by for emergencies, or for those who can't afford the pricetag of over £200.00 for the equivelent aquamax pump.
jane ..have to agree i dont see why it cant be run out of the pond either it certainly looks like a direct copy, run two yamitsus out of pond as do others but they say you shoudnt as well , think its probably manufacturers protecting there products
hi jane
did you test the pump running dry mounted as i have 2 of these pumps and have them in the pond im intersted to know how it went as id like to get the pums out of pond in the end
with the move in less than 2 weeks i havnt got the time to test as yet. much more important things to do..
i have discussed these pumps with a couple of people and i think they should work the same as the aquamax with the water passing through the pump cooling it.
you could always do the test and dry mount it..... someone has to...!!!!
