Underwater pictures

I've now got my replacement camera (after last one accidentally fell in the pond

).
To make sure I didn't make the same mistake again, I thought I'd splash out (I know

) on an underwater case.
Discovered that they don't do one specifically for my camera - HOWEVER.
Aquapac [url]http://www.aquapac.net/ukstore/erol.html#home[/url] make a range of cases which they say are watertight to 15ft/5m

I bought their smallest case for Ã‚Â£22 inc delivery.
You can guess where my camera is stored.

Only problem is, you have to manipulate the case slightly when switching the camera on, if the lens can't come out all the way, the camera turns off.

I know it's not exactly Blue Peter but for taking pictures of your babies, the cost isn't as prohibitive as buying a pucker underwater camera/case - and it's a great accessory to have at the beach.

are they water proof or just splash proof, as plunging my Ã‚Â£400.00 camera into the pond sends shivers down Janes spine... and could restrict me for child number six. (if you know what i mean)

I will say though, opening the bag straight away, you need to make sure you open downwards as there is a bit of water caught in the sealing mechanism.

In the destructions, they do say to test the bag first by using something of little value inside the bag.

I thought the idea was to use the camera underwater not to take pictures of the underwater camra..under water

Yeah, yeah.
I'm just uploading pics for another thread, these were taken with the camera inside the bag - I don't want another camera going for a swim.
Imagine telling my insurance company that a second camera...

I have to say that it doesn't look as though there is anything in the way, the clear front on the bag doesn't have any detrimental effects on the pic.

Tomorrow, I'll do an underwater video (hopefully) & post a link here.

Just done this for DiY floating basket thread.

Can't wait 'till the morning when I can go for the plunge.

OK, not exactly Jacques Custeau but I had to guess at what I was pointing the camera towards (had to crop it a bit to fit the upload site as well).
Made me realise the thread algae was worse than I thought & I need to get to work on clearing it out

I think the bag is good value if it keeps everything out of the camera & it still takes pretty good pics.

Yes, don't know why they're being so shy.
And all them bits suspended, you can't really see them from above.
I need to have a serious clearout of the weed & try to get rid of the thread algae.
Also looks like I need to break out the old pondvac to give the bottom a bit of a hoover as well.

Last time I took a video, I put the camera into a T3sco lock/seal sandwich bag & a few of the fish came around & actually took an interest.
