Homebred Update
Decided to have a measure up of some of the Koi I have left now, so this morning Daisy and I were armed with net, bowl, camera and pen/paper.
Of the 13 Shiro's left, it was disapointing to see that some had mouth or gill deformaties. Still there were a few good ones still left in there, one or two were very nice.
The biggest was measured as 27cm (10.5"), with 8 others ranging from 15cm to 22cm.
Only 3 Kohaku survived my earlier problems and none of these 3 is any good at all - sizes 9, 10 & 11cm.

Hi Bob
Us culler's didn't do a good job then back in october, I reckon someone sneeked some of the good one's out with out telling you!!!!!
From the one's I brought home all the kohaku's had gil or mouth deformitie's, and I seem to have a fair few benigoi, but no real growth rate to talk about. The Shiro's are going good, not the same growth as your's but still doing ok.
The big fella fasinate's me, the only balck I can see is on his fin's, do you think he has more black that will develope? And have you decided on the show winner yet? It is great watching them change as they grow and develope shape. Thank's for keeping us up to date with how they are doing.
Oh yes , you are welcome any time

Wow Bob, they have really come on over the last few month's with their pattern and shape. The Tancho one, could it be an optical ellussion due to the marking's, and the possition of it when the photo was taken. They look beautiful and I would be very proud of them. Well done, it will be interesting to see wht size they are in a couple of month's at a year old. Not that far off now.
