hi,
Well the showa seemed fine up until a few days ago when it started hanging around the surface again.
After bowling it I noticed the swelling was back.
I repeated the procedure, but this time I didn't need to extract anything it all just starting pouring out as soon as I inserted the 12 gauge needle. applying a little gentle pressure around the swollen area allowd the puss to flow out like a small river through a tiny 12 gauge hole. No blood only puss which I assume is a good sign.
I treated the area again with kusuri wound treatment products and also gave the koi a shot of AB. The koi weighed in at 6.3kg (67cm) so 0.6ml of AB was given into the pec muscle. The injected area was also treated and sealed before bring the koi back from sedation and returning to the pond.
I added 6g (3000gal pond) of CT as well just to try and prevent a secondary bacterial infection in the pond.
This treatment was done today and I will repeat again on Saturday and Monday. Lets hope this works as I'm not sure what else I can do for the poor guy.

Re: Showa swollen and not breathing
Just an update.
Over a month on and there is no sign of any swelling.
So I think I may be alright for a while.
Something tells me that I haven't seen the last of this issue, but I'm keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't surface again.
In the maentime I've changed half my filter to hopefully get the best conversion of toxins that I can.
I sill have the nexus being fed from the BD, but I have replaced the bead with a sieve and shower.
I'll be looking at adding RO next year when funds are replenished, that BHM is not cheap
