Fluebenol 5% mixed with acetone..

Post by bigmel »

Any ideas why this has not worked for me ?

Treated at 11 degs a few weeks back , the pond is 2700 g and i put in 3000 gallons worth and mixed with acetone .

A week later further scrapes showed up live flukes .

I increased the dose to 4000 gallons with the correct amount of acetone pond was at 10 degs , a week later i re scraped and found live flukes on the first to koi i scraped

I take it its the temp against me ?

I,ve ordered flukesolve but i,m not putting it in untill the weekend as i,m moveing some koi back to the pond and currently dropping the temp in the qt vat so i will treat the pond when all the stock is back in there .

Anyone else found that fluebenol is not that great anymore ?

Hi Mel,

I have to admit i have never had any trouble or problems with Flubenoll it has always worked when i have treated ponds.

I take it this is Flubenol as in the wormer and not flukeM ?

What amount are you using for the mix i know its probably correct but always worth asking and did you double check the scales and amounts. The reason i say this is i always double double check any treatment and in doing so have found it to be incorrect a few times over the years.

I make your first dose 30.3 grams

if this aint working and you have no goldfish try Telmin that works at low temps and is a darn site cheaper than flukesolve

Thanks guys......yes it was 30.33 g which i rounded up to 33.7 g the first dose and the second dose was a tad over 40 g .

The koi don,t seem to be flashing much at all now , is the kill much slower at 10 -11 degs ?

I scraped about 5 days after the last dose of 40 g , i will re scrape at the weekend to see if had has worked but more slowly .

I,ve used Telmin in the past and superverm both to good effect (knocked the koi off colour but killed the flukes) , but i,ve got sterlets in there now so i,m not sure if telmin / superverm is safe with them ?

They are ok for sturgeons Mel, as long as you use the right dose and mix well, Graham & Terry used to use them at the farm.

Thanks Karen :D
I think i will go back to telmin next time as i can get it quite easily as its sturgeon safe .

The last scrape i did today still showed up a few flukes even with the 4000 g dose :( .....i,ve given it plenty of time to work .

I,ve put the fluke solve in now (after a few large water changes) so lets see if this nails them .

Thanks peeps
