Cloudy Eye

Post by Graham. »

Morning KQ'ers

Noticed one of the Koi with cloudy eye lately, have a good idea why it has gone like this so will monitor it for a couple weeks.

I noticed from a searched post that Mr D mentioned about Paula's topical "cloudy eye" treatment, so I contacted them and was informed the following.

Hello Graham ,
Clear Eye was made by LFH for 30 years but has now been discontinued although there may be dealers that still have the product in stock .

Anyone here know of anyone with a surplus of this stuff in case I need to grab some?

Many thanks
Graham

Hi Graham

You said in your post ""have a good idea why it has gone like this "".

Could you please enlighten us to what you think has caused it, I have a Koi at the moment which looks like it has scrapped its eye and I am wondering if it the same sort of thing. I was hoping to net all the Koi earlier in the week but the weather has been against me so it will have to wait as I want to give them a good check over and make sure they all fit and ready for winter, and if there are any issues then I can start to treat and they have a bit of time to heal before another cold winter desends on us.

Thanks and I hope you get an answer to your question. Could you not ask LFH what dealers had it !!!!!!!!!!

The Koi came back from the Essex show and as normal for precaution purposes the pond was hit with MG&F, I think this is the cause as I have read it could occur if there was a slight overdosing by accident.

Don't seem to be any other issues like flashing or anything else so as mentioned will leave this and observe for wek or two.

Hope that helps Kim.

Hi Graham

Well it's not that then, but something else learned :) My Koi looks like she has rubbed it on something, it has been like it for a couple of months now. It doesn't seem to giving her any trouble, but I just wondred if it could be the same thing.

With your one will it improve on its own as the MG&F works it way out of the Koi's system, or is it something you have to treat to heal it.

Thats what I love about this forum you can learn something from it everyday virtually

Water changes will see the MG&F out of the system over time, with RO it's a little harder to hit big water changes top ups can be a slow affair.

Im hoping time will be the healer here and of course i'll update as things go.

Hi Graham,

Yes this can happen with MG&F as i know of a guy a while back who fish looked very bad with lots of mucus and when looking back it turned out he had done a dose of MG&F which was too strong and after a while and some water changes they was back to normal.

Good luck hope it turns out OK.
