guys im in need of a 12 volt 15 amp PSU i cant get going till i get one

I think you are a computery sort of person. If so do you have the power supply from the computer that gave you trouble? A typical 400 watt puter power supply would give you a very stable 12v at around 10 amps, complete with overload protection and, usually, a built-in mains switch. If you need a higher output than that, Maplin will stock higher output ATX power supplies.
Mrs Manky used to buy all her computer components from Misco, they were pretty cheap and very reliable. They have a cheap 500w jobbie that should do everything you need for 25 quid inc vat. Part number:- 500WGENERIC(NVS)

well done sid, i think i have a redundant 600 psu out of a puter somewhere
the one in the computer that was giving me grief is a 750 watt and cost over £100 that has to be used for this machine cuz its cutting edge when i get the mother board changed
but thanks for that you have given me another avenue to look at

got the pwoer supply i had a new 620 watt but of course it does not power up till it recieves a 5 volt back from the mother board to ground
sao if anyone want to use one of these to power an RO pump you need to simulate this by linking the green wire on the 24 pin atx plug to any of the black ground wire then sshe pures into life giving 12 volts on any off the yellow wires
next job keep it cool while keeping it dry

right i need a way of dealing with the organics in the water now before it gets pumped to the filters and membrane
any ideas remember anything really agressive like zone will rip the membranes up.

ok guys call off the dogs i have it well sorted
a 6 stage prefilter split in two with a pre pump before the six and a main pump between the first and last three , two 1 micron sediment sediment filters and 4 carbon blocks just waiting for it all to arrive

your right i wont get that much waste from the last chamber , but i aint worried about sediment thats easy to get shot of , it DOC's im worried about, that will clog the membranes up right away this will be like pouring oil in the system .
carbon blocks, (a lot of them) will take this out, but it loads the sytem up with friction hence the two stage pumps the first is a 70psi to push through the first three stages then a 80-100 psi after with a cut out to push through the last three and the membranes
i want all the DOC's gone before the last three stages and membranes
one thing i am doing is, taking the tap out of the waste line and relying on just a restrictor , it makes no sense loading the membranes up to the hilt and risking colapsing them when the waste water is going back around again anyway, in any event we are not wasting tap water
to run this is going to take some special consdierations and precautions you wont get far replacing the membranes every week , but it will be worth it you only buy the kit once and a box of 24 carbon blocks bought in bulk with no packaging are peanuts

If docs are going to be the big problem might it be best to run a foam fractionater first? This could reduce the organics before you use carbon to mop up the last bits.

i did consider this but its just not fast enough and efficient enough to put in front of the prefilter but i do use a foam fractionator on the pond anyway , and i dont intend to press this into action untill i have lowered the TDS right down by normal purging with the RO unit pumping tap water, in other words i want to get the water in the pond somewhere near before i start drawing it to the recirculating RO. i want ti give the recirculating system a rolling start . the reason being my old membranes did eventually pack up ( well they was 3 years old ) plus i have been fighting aeromonas in the pond so treatments followed by rapid water changes have driven my pH and TDS up
i also considered Ozone to strip the organics for a short time but if this gets to the membranes they will melt so that went out the window i also considered a drip system of PP or H2O2 but discounted this for the same reason as Ozone

Hi all
I have just been invited into the zone so this is my first post on the here.
As Mark said earlier in this thread i was just about ready to install the RO for recycling my pond water but had problems with my growing pond. That is sorted out now so here is what i was planning to do.
I have broke into pipe return with a tee from a 10,000 litre pump from an easy pod. Reduced the 2 inch pipe down to 1/2 bsp with a valve to turn off. I have lots of preesure but not messured it with a gauge yet. I was going to run 3 sedement fliters from 20 micron - 10 micron - 5 micron then into the RO membranes. Don't think you would need to run carbon as you have aready done this with your Ro supply from the mains water to you pond.
I may have to play with the sedement filters to get the best supply of water to the membranes and may have to install a booster pump to get the best out of the membranes. The only problem i can see is the build up of Bio film on the membranes and what could be done to over come this?

the organic load is what will keep killing your membranes no amount of sediment filters will take this out cuz its totally dissolved
you need carbon and not only carbon but carbon blocks to remove DOC's and with this amount you need serious pressure or you wont get anything worth while out
