Hi all.
Does anyone know if i use heras fence panals which are galvanised to cover my pond while i am on holiday.
Will there be any polutants going in to the pond from the galvanise if it rains.
These panals seem ideal for protection from animals or small children falling in the pond which is 5 foot 6 inches deep.

I don't think it would be a good idea having anything galvanized that close to the pond, does it have to be covered while you are away

I wouldn`t have anthing galvanised anywhere near MY pond!!!!
Galvanising is basicaly coating the steel with ZINC, which is a nasty stuff, and pretty lethal to fish.
Even if it didn`t rain while you were away, there would still be a build up of condensation under the panel which would gradually drip drip drip zinc into your water, slowly poisoning the fish. Not nice.
Go for a net, it`s a lot safer.

What type of net do you have in mind ?
If the intention of covering the pond is to prevent accidents whilst you are away, ie to stop animals or children falling into the pond, I can't see a net achieving that goal.
