Bio Chips Anyone

Hi All,
Well i recently received my shipment of the new EA Bio Chips and i put them in the filters yesterday after a soak in PP.At first they did the same as new K1 and just stuck together and to the sides but within a few hours they started to get mixing. This morning they where bubbling away and tonight they are all mixing very nicely.
I will most probably be adding another bag as i split one bag between the two vortex units when i do some more alterations to the filtration in the spring/summer.
A couple of pictures so you can see them in action:

All looks good Gazza.
Is that a bit of copper pipe attached to your ball valve??????

Copper pipe Bob!!!!!! na its all done in speed-fit plastic pipe and that is just the ball valve.I used to have one of the small Troveck (not sure on the spelling) ones on it but what with all the agitation and K1 it snapped so i went for a bigger one.
Sorry Al i forgot to say yes they was in some PP but only for about 4 hours or so

Gazza you don’t hang about do you.
I can see why you have mixed them, do you think there could be any benefit to having them in say bay 2 as apposed to bay three or visa versa. And having k1 in the opposite bay. Or is it just increased surface area.

Hi John,
As you look at the third picture the filter on the left with half K1 and half water showing is my settlement and static K1 (Geazy). Then the bio chips are in the second and third vortex and i have only mixed half a bag in each at the moment but another bag will be going in later as i believe you can mix K1 and Bio Chip 50/50.
There is another vortex further along but thats just a matting one but may become another static K1 chamber later.
Copper pipe?

So they work on exactly the same principle and the benefits come from increased surface area, thanks gazza
