Lee,
If I was building another pond for myself, I'd definitly build it streamflow. Seems logical to trap and get rid of the sh1t often and the pond can be virtually maintenance free.

hi bob
totally agree m8 for ages i have been trying to work out how to fit my pond into its location due to the house drain runs so was thinking of a deep end and shallow end and how best to get the bottom drain line to where the filters would be then i remmeberd being impressed reading about streamflow ponds a few years ago so it could fit my plans

Lee,
Drop James from Nippon Nishikigoi a line, their 2000 growing on pond is streamflow. I'm sure James will pass on some tips on how they built theirs and any issues they encountered.
