the easiest way of using airlifts is to use the 4" pipework from the bottom drain.
use the vertical length of pipe that comes out of the pond to place your uplift air tube in and the let gravity take the water through your filter and back to the pond...
just stick a 10mm air line down with no airstone on it as far as you can and expect a flood of water....
a good quality 60ltr/min air pump should be good enough to move loads of water...
