Got this weekend off and thinking of making a shower for Q/T, i know BHM is the business but the price is crazy, what other media could be used that will give good results but at a more reasonable price?

Hi Pete,
BHM is the nuts mate and there are others out there using Grog,K1,matting and more the only problem is you need to remove the waste where BHM isn't a problem although the clarity can go off a bit but the fish don't seem to mind
Have a go with some and keep some records but save for some BHM even if its only one box which will help dramatically

Echo Gazza, You can get away with other media but that works better in a trickle tower situation. There is only one media to have in a shower BHM. Two box`s on a small system in a homemade shower, will work a treat as long as You have the correct flow going over it. It will be the best £280 You ever spend.

There is another media that comes in from Japan , it looks exactly the same as the original slightly smaller bhm , it still has the hollow in the middle.
Ive seen it being used with good results.
It was at Coldwater Collection nr Coventry that had it for sale, Ive seen it being used at a colleagues premises.

Have to agree with the rest of the boys. BHM is the best media on the market for any trickle tower/shower. The alternatives are cheap imitations and like all things you get the results you pay for. With BHM the Koi's attitude changes overnight to that of manic feeders and activlety looking out for food with much more vigour. You only have to buy it once and once only, bite the bullet you will never regret it.

Sorry Darren ,
1 - I didnt say it was BHM , I said it was like BHM . (I actually said "It looks the same but slightly smaller")
2 - It is from Japan and not China, I have seen the boxes , I will call to get the website of the KOi Farm in Japan that uses it.
Regarding the Price - I believe when talking to Mike Snaden a few weeks ago that the price of BHM is now appx 130.00 per box due to the Yen.
The "Copy" is £85.00 per box and is brought into the uk by a Dutch wholesaler. Quite a difference I believe. Yes the performance may not be the same , but I will not give my opinion until it is trialled for a bit. When I get the results I will post them. There may be another version from China, but not this.
