Hi Lee,

Yes i pump directly from the bottom drain over the shower with just the heater in line and nothing else and i run around 1600gph so a fair old rate. The QT is well insulated and in winter i have polycard on the top to help.

Mine's in a greenhouse so the whole thing is insulated. I heat the water directly with aquarium heaters.

I divert some flow from the bottom drain back through the heat exchanger and into a pond return. The rest goes over the shower. Probably about 800 gallons per hour through the heat exchanger, 1500 gallons over the shower from that pump. Then a mid-level feed pumping another 2,500 gallons over the shower. On a 2K gallon system.
