Leaking Pond

My pond has sprung a leak :( I've turned the pump etc off and it's still going down quite quickly.

The pond has a liner and it's black, so trying to find a relatively small hole in it is going to be a nightmare. Does anyone know of any way locating this small hole?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

What filtration do you have and is there any pipes that got to waste and if so what valves are on them as you may find its a valve which is not shut fully and is letting the water through.If you have got some valves on the waste line go and open and close them a few times and make sure they are fully closed :idea:

Lets hope its not the liner as the only way to find the hole is to let it go down till it stops and hope its closer to the top than bottom.Have you any cause to think the liner has been punctured in any way :?:

Gazza,

There's only the pump in the pond and that's switched off; so it's the liner that looks like it's got a hole in it :(

Guess letting the water go down, is the only way to find the level it's at and then just minutely inspecting that level

Dave you need to go and get one of these .... http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0259878" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Transfer your Koi, filtration and as much of your pond water as you can.

Then refill your pond and when the level stops dropping, start searching for the leak. Does the liner have a guarantee? Who was the supplier? They should be able to help you sort the leak out.

Good luck
