I use a Laguna Pond Vacuum Kit £15-£20 they are plastic and the joint will brake, as long as you support it well when leaving the water it will last ages. I use mind ever 3 - 4 days.

I have a pond vac 3 and although I see why they have had a constant draw through the vac if you suck up enough debris it will not allow the rubber valves to close and eventualy suction is lost. This happens more often when doing dirty filters/ponds and can become a little tedious. Pondvac 2 was the best so far imho.

Hi Micheal

The only comment I would make about the PondVac 2 is that if your pond is raised above ground to any extent then it is a complete pain in the bum to operate because to function properly it must be above the waterline. The only option is to create some sort of trolley to pull it around at the correct height; otherwise you are trying to vacuum and balance the thing on the pond wall which ain't particularly easy.

Cheers

Works fine when below water level as long as you pull the hose out when its emptying otherwise you set up a syphon
