My Pond Build

Post by Thorny »

As I have made a little head way through firstly rain then snow and now back to rain over the last few weeks, I thought it was time I showed all what I am up to.
OK its a five side shaped pond, half in ground half out. With a large Oval window at the front of the pond. behind the pond will be the filtration. I am going with a blockbuilt system. With a 750 gallon settlement chamber, fed by a airated bottom drain, and then a 300 gallon bio-stage. Which will be two K1 chambers. The back to the pond via a mid-water return pumped by an Optimax 10,000. Skimmer will be for now pumped directly straight over a small shower by a Sequence 10,000. Future plan is to fit a sieve before shower (got to save up). I am sure there is plenty out there that would argue My choice of filtration, As I am sure there are plenty that would say thats the way to go  Thats just Koi keeping
The whole sytem should hold 4500 gallons, and will run on less than 250 watts :D . That is the plan behind this pond, I want to achieve a pond for the family to enjoy our Koi from. I am not going for a crazy whirl pool. I have one of those in My Fish House. This pond is not aloud to set the Metre spinning, by order of the Boss (Mrs Thorny)
Hope you enjoy the pictures of progress.
I look forward to all Your fed back and question`s
Justin

I plan to fit the glass in the render and board way. I will get a price on both an Oval piece of glass and a rectangle piece. If the Oval is through the roof due to the cutting involved I will just go with an over sized rectangle. Just means a few more tubes of Gold Label.

Sorry lads nothing done today, had a bit of running around to do. I did take the former out, so You can now see the shape of the window. I will get some more brickwork done after work tomorrow. I also now have to rake out the joints to the brickwork around the window and point that up, as it cant be done when Your building it.

let me now if you want a price on the glass? I use a company that cuts it whilst you wait, however it is back home, not Watsons either too long to wait for their stuff and too pricey for my pocket
