Even if it was 10000, you wouldnt get 10000 pumping up to a shower, the head loss would reduce the output to a lot less. I dont know what output an Eco16000 would do pumping to a shower, but I'm pretty sure that's what Darren at A4Koi uses on his showers.emmaandaj wrote:Hi Bob,
For some reason i was under the impression that a nexus 300 had a max flow of 10000 litres an hour-ive just checked and its 13000 litres so i could probably use a aquamax 16000 allowing for head loss.
I think you should move the single drain further away from the shower, so it's not just in the middle. The output from the shower (circa 4000 gallons) will create quite a flow and 'may' push some debris away from the drain. I'd put it 2/3rds the way down the pond. Does the shower have to be in the corner of your garden, just put it in the middle and it will push towards the drain.emmaandaj wrote: So looks like i can use aquamax 1600eco's all round. The only reason i suggested only putting one of the skimmers was so that i could use skimmer (B) to create a flow along the curved wall (1). Do you think it would work with all three returns across the shower as it would only give me one return? I know Gazza suggested a return pushing along the curved wall?
I've only ever seen one piped return and that's at Darrens. I'm sure there are others somewhere though. The shower weir is nearly 1-metre across and with circa 4000 gallons coming off the weir there will be quite a flow.emmaandaj wrote: Do you mean to have the shower returning via a weir rather than piped below the surface? I was worried that a wier would create a flow than fans out across the pond, rather than pushing along the right hand wall?
Ring Mike up and have a chat with him, dont send him an email, he's a bit forgetful with emails and may not reply.emmaandaj wrote: Just been looking at Yumekoi's website-really interesting read about the showers. If im not mistaken people are using showers as the only filtration and still achieving good clarity??? Seems BHM is clever stuff!

I wouldnt say clarity is 'good' on a shower only pond, but the Koi wouldnt worry about it. Removing solids by one means or another definity helps with clarity. Many people just pump direct though and the shower principle and BHM sure works well and eats all th poo.
