wood stain/paint
hi
Be careful what you stain them with as most wood stains are NOT safe for aquatic use. Give a company called West Country Finishes a call on (01626) 867973. All thier paints are non toxic and safe for use around ponds.

why not just not treat the wood. let the weather just do its bit to mature the wood. afterall how long will a dead tree branch last, "years and years".
hubby built our pergola in the old garden and never treated the wood, it was dismantled and brought with us to the new garden and is as good as new...
what i'm saying is if its got to be clear then dont treat just build...

Hi,
Unfortunately ive used very thin internal timber (was a lot cheaper) that will rot in the warm humid air so will need to treat it with something! Unfortunately i bought untreated timber as i was worried that pretreated timber may of been toxic!
Surely there must be a clear treatment other than G4 out there????
Thanks again guys!
Andy

There's this, http://www.koicarp.net/pond_construction/pa ... stain.html.
I've never used it but have used the P1 paint, with mixed results. I'm thinking of painting the underneath of my filter decking to stop the water condensation that is collecting on it going into the wood.
