JUDY'S NEW POND BUILD

Post by judyanngee »

Well you've heard enough from me about all my koi problems so I thought it about time I shared something more cheerful................ MY NEW POND BUILD :D :D :D :D

It started on Monday and this is the progress so far.

Had problems getting the depth for the bottom drain .......... clay too hard :? so it will have to have some unplanned bends (2x45degrees)

More pictures on this link

Hi Judy
It’s looking like a great start of your pond by looks at the soil is it clay base and will you be block building the pond and fibre-glassing or are you using a liner

The link that you put up dose not open up

Hi guys, sorry about the link :?

Maybe this will work???? http://www.koivista.com/display_series.php? ... neuron=272

It will be block built with fibreglass, 2 midwater returns, a 4 inch aerated bottom drain to a Nexus 300 eazy and skimmer to a pod, 55w UV and gas heating :D

Today I feel even more excited as the digging has stopped and the digger's gone so now the build goes up :D

Nothing is ever straigth forward is it??????

Over night part of the channel collapsed and poor Jeff (the guy who is building the pond for me) had to throw the earth 6 foot up over his head to get it out, and it was heavy clay (I know because I filled many barrows and wheeled it down to the front)

Anyway it's been tidied up again and tomorrow is another day

Hi Judy,

Don't worry about that its all part of pond building and in a few months when you sitting by a beautiful pond with a glass in one hand and some prawns in the other (for the fish not a prawn cocktail) you would of forgotten all about it :D

I'm looking forward to that gazza :D

I've had an architect around today who has reassured me that I have nothing to worry about with my pond. :D

Jeff has completed the sump and the bottom drain today. I can't post a picture of the botom drain as it was dark when I got home, I will post another picture tomorrow.

Bottom drain and 2 returns put in today.

It took Jeff ages to get them all lined up straight and the step up on the channel to the filter room did not help.

Hi Herbie, I think it will take a bit longer than 2 or 3 weeks :( but here's hoping :D

Pond and filter room base filled today after the metal grid was put down and the bottom drain covered. Fabulous day weather wise

Jeff is so particular, he's been in the filter room 3 times to get the base smooth and sloped correctly so any water drains towards the sump. He is so meticulous
