BHM in the stacking boxes, which one was the top tier eh!

Used some of that filter griding for the bottom of each tier, notched out every edge piece so no muck could build up and get trapped behind it.

First tier/chute fitted into place

All connected up and running

It looks a lot better than the stacking boxes and pieces of support wood, I can see the Koi easier and the food doesnt disappear under the boxes, so I can see them feeding.

Right so what shall I do next? Oh yeah, make one for Gazza!

Really nice job Bob.

I've done some glassing (speedboats) and recognise the amount of work that's gone in here.I'd like something similar but no way am I considering glassing them up myself, let alone making moulds.

For all those clamouring for a similar set up,and I am not in any way connected to the company making them,I've found these.

http://www.shorehamfibreglass.co.uk/filter.html Second model down is around what Bob's done here.

Now, to be honest, that looks like a fair price to me for the work involved, considering Shoreham Fibreglassing's reputation for doing deals like no media included price reductions etc,it could be even better after a phone call.

Hope I haven't broken any guidelines posting this,it simply is an effort to help those who ain't getting a set off of Bob any time soon. :)

Graham,

Thanks for trying to save me some work and I'd say that isn't a bad price for what it is and is larger than my unit.

I could knock out the basic tiers for people from the mould I made, that's the easy part. If people wanted me to do this for them, then they would have to design their own method of stacking them and dealing with how to fix and fit them. I could help with some of these aspects, but making a chute like I did on this one was the difficult and most time consuming part. I just dont really have enough time to do this bit. So if anyone wants this done, just let me know.

I actually the Shorham larger unit isn't quite right. It's marketed as a 'trickle' filter and not a shower and the inlet pipe and spray bar doesnt look big enough, so it is a trickle filter. A shower really turns the water over quickly and spray bars are usually 3-4" diameter. So I wouldn't want to buy one of these large units thinking it can handle the turnover of a shower, unless the pipe was changed.

Great job Bob.

Did your friend in the business teach you to glass or did you go on a course.

Currently building a relatively small pond and considering Glassing it.

I have been thinking of going to CYB in Canvey Island as they do one day workshops to teach you the basics.

Cheers Dean.

Dean,

Not been on a course, but have watched a few ponds being glassed. Plus my friend told me what to do and a few tips from Dave A as well.

As long as you are a decent DIY'r I'd say go for it.
