diy floating basket
one very easy to make floating basket ...
take one bread basket tray the kind you see in tescos or asda on the shelves or ask the bread man nicely for one .
get a length of inch and a half pipe and four solvent weld elbows ,
on the bread tray there is a shoulder secure tightly the pipe around it gluing the elbows as you go so no water can leach into the pipe to achieve your flotation basket then sits half in half out of water for inspection of fish you could even put a measuring tape in as well ....simple cheap and it works.

OK, just took this one...

And noticed the big guy circling around looking for a cress sandwich so wondered...

I never realised the flash would penetrate the water as well as it did. I think the clarity is better than some I have taken during the day.
The OH called me early this morning. She said that the big fish was out of the water & looked dead
Haring outside in my slippers & dressing gown, I found this one curled around the bottom bowl of my fountain - he'd obviosly jumped in for some cress
Fortunately, there was plenty of water flowing around him to keep him going & also it was early morning.
The joys of fish-keeping.
