Were do you guys buy Sodium Bicarbonate, is there a pure form without the Raising agent E500(ii) ??

hi Russ, I buy mine from wing yip the Chinese supermarket chain comes in a 5kg tub for less than a fiva, oddly enough there is no vat on sodium bicarb I don't know why perhaps somebody here knows why

There's no vat on food and drink intended for human consumption unless it's a confectionary or sold with an added service such as in restaurants. I would guess that sodium bicarbonate is zero rated because it's an ingredient in a basic food such as bread.

Local Chinese supermarket is also a good source of 12.5kg bags of salt!

yes Jane I get my salt from wing yip really cheap
of late ive been buying it from Morrisons there own 3kg bag of cooking salt is just over a quid which is not bad if your in a rush

Just bought a 3kg bag of sodium bicarbonate from wing yip and got charged vat
Still cheap at £2.86

you should have questioned that I have never paid vat on bicarb at wing yip that's why I asked the question
