Help needed identifying / valuing fish for pond closure

Post by benner10 »

Hi everyone,
I took on a pond when I bought my house 4 years ago but have determined I'm never going to get the time to appreciate it so am going to close it down. No small task - it's 8000 gallons. I have a dozen or so fish most between 40 and 60cm. I also want to sell the pumps, filters, nets, bowls and so on. I know two of the fish are a diotsu and a chagoi as I purchased those from a member here 3 years ago when I thought I would get time to work on the pond. The fish are on hayling island po11 near Portsmouth/ Chichester and are strictly collection only as I cannot drive due to poor eyesight.

Any help identifying & valuing much appreciated and offers happily received!

Here is what I have:

1) Big orange & white koi 50cm
2) mostly white with a small bit of orange koi 45cm
3) white/silver orf 40cm (I am told it is an orf)

4) small orange koi 20cm
5) Doitsu 47cm
6) Salmon pinky orange coloured koi 40cm
7) black, gold, white koi wi orange nose (40cm)
8) Chagoi - reddish brown colour 65 cm
9) big brown carp - maybe koi , not sure nice fish. 60cm
10) black, gold and white koi with white nose 50cm beautiful fish 50cm
Also a couple of other black fish I couldn't catch today.

** I will add the photos shortly as I need to resize them somehow to match the required size for this site.
For now here is a link for fish 3 to 10 http://s1275.photobucket.com/user/Benner10/library/
I am happy to discuss on 07977480316 anytime. Cheers Richard

Hi I am sorry to hear that you are having to give up your pond, I have had a look at the photo's and I will do my best
Fish 3 is a Bekko
Fish 4 is a Orenji Ogon (I think)
Fish 5 is a Kiusui
Fish 6 is a Kikokoryu
Fish 7 is a Sanke
Fish 8 is a Chagoi
Fish 9 is a either a Matsuba or a Ghost carp I would lean more to a Matsuba though
Fish 10 is a Sanke

Without photos of the others it is hard to say, most people disscribe a Kohaku as orange and white so I can't be sure with out seeing them sorry
