Simply Koi and More Koi

hi guys

could you help please
my fish in my grow on tank have costia and i cant seem to shift it on going for months
how would you treat for costia
so far ive use M+F 3 tretments
pp @ 1.5g per ton then @'2g per ton then put the fish in a vat and used 10g per ton for 90 mins and still didnt shift the little fu~kers

im now after some more advice i'm trying salt @ 0.9% for a week then down to 0.6 for an other 7 days

the fish seem fine just a few flashes but on the scrapes theres loads of costia

the grow on tank is at 20c 600gal with a bakki shower and 50kg of bhm

p. waddy seems to think the kusuri pp isnt up to the job and said to try a diffrent brand so ive ordered some from the koi quest site

what are your thoughts on this and can you help ??

the tank is at 0.9% salt at the mo but can drop this to what ever you think at any time

its doing my head in now
im just glad the fish are still feeding and ive not lost any but im sure if i dont sort it soon there going to go down hill

costia are pretty much resistant to salt and can be very subborn

There are two forms of PP, a very fine powder and course crystal both are the same strength only the purity differs but this would not effect the strength just the toxicity, but you would dose both exactly the same.

we go from AR grade ( analytical reagent grade)this is for labs where poor purity would upset research results. then BP grade (British pharmaceutical grade)for use in humans, what i term intermediate grade right down to the poor quality stuff as used for cleaning up cocaine. but all are the same basic strength do the same job except its just the poor quality stuff like household grade PP would be more toxic and will have more bi-products in it and is liable if anything to off your fish not from its strength but its poor purity. I buy in AR grade but would have no worries using all except very poor quality

also PP is on the drug cat 2 precursor of controlled licence d drugs because as I say are used for cleaning up cocaine and bomb making but these tend to be the real cheapo grades

so I very much doubt kusuri's PP is not up two the job who ever told you that is milking without a bucket and is no chemist.

ok here's what i would do

you dip the fish in 1 gram per gallon PP for 4-5 minutes then straight after treat the tank at 2 gm per 220 gallons pp

work you dose out so you dont mix two lots up e.g lets say the PP dose for your system is 4.5 grams add this to 4.5 gallons, then after the dip just dump this into your tank. e.g. say you q system needs 2 grams of pp add this to 2 gallons use it as your dip and dump into the tank after as your 2 gm dose, see use your dip as your pond dose and don't waste no time after the dip is finished

failing that do your MG&F again but double the formaldehyde dose, in other words 10 ml of formaldehyde to 75 gallons
