Beni Receeding

Gents, I purchased a Koi back in July 2010 it was a male Sekaguchi Showa at 24cm.
This Koi has been kept in a friends pond whilst my big build has been ongoing, firstly the growth has been resonable as he is now at 51cm, photo below was at 43cm.

Last week whilst checking all the Koi we noticed that the Beni seems to be receeding from the scale pocket out, normally I would have expected it to be from the tip down, not that I want to see a Koi losing Beni especially one of my favorites.
Could anyone shed any light? the Koi has been in RO water but due to an ongoing leak in John's pond he had to go through a period of no RO and is only just starting up again.
No other Koi appear to have had any issues, no spawning this year and growth has been good throughout.
Is it just another Koi that has gone the way the cookie crumbles in this game or is there an underlying issue? Have done a salt dip for 3oz 10 mins to see if anything is underlying the scales and bugging it, but would really appreciate your views gents.

Regards
Graham
