Simply Koi and More Koi

hi guys
i have a koi thats decided to lie on the bottom of the pond fins clamped and to the point that it lays on its side and looks dead.
It then swims up and behaves completley normal for a while, eating etc then it goes back again.
its like when they get really cold in the winter and lie on their sides.problems started a few weeks ago after i added blanket weed answer. they started to get mucous on them, i did a scrape and found costia and and a few fluke so treated for the costia with mgf ,two treatments all seemed ok then this koi got heavey mucous ans a patch of scales started to raise near her tail took a scrape from her and another and found many flukes(body) some were dead well they looked all bits and pieces. but there were a lot of live ones, so treated with telmin and did water changes this fish seems to be the only one that is affected scales are still raised but no where near as angry looking and starting to lay downagain from the top.
ijust cant work out the strange behaviour of laying like she does.

i have given her a salt bath twice which has made the mucous lookpatchyand thick no dry patches and cant see any thing lurking under microscope so far.
Help.

ok got her out again and did another scrape, this time i have found a few costia which means i can't have erradicated it previously. though this fish seems to be the only one affected.
question is how long before i can treat with malachite and formalin for the costia?

Have you scraped any other fish , I would always recommend it to check you have all bases covered. Hope you and Rob are both okay, stranger

I must of missed this but looks like you have found the reason for the fish being off i take it you have treated it now and is the fish picking up

She is up and swimming around now though her tail tube is still raised up. feeding as well at the moment.
i have given her three salt baths for now.
i havn't treated the pond yet as i do not know how long before i can retreat with mgf.
i have done three large water changes so far.
Got rid of the flukes with the telmin just found bits of them when i scraped them again.

Hi Amanda

You havn't actually said when you treated, but off the top of my head you have to leave a clear 7 days between each treating with differant things. If I am wrong I am sure someone will put me right. But you have to give the Koi time to recover from one chemical before you hit them with another. It is also advisable to follow the 3 treatments of MG&F to make sure all stragglers are got.

hi Kim.
i treated with telmin two weeks ago now.
I just didnt know how long it takes to dissipate i have done three big water changes now.
Fish is much better at the moment, up and eating just the raised scales i removed four dead ones yesterday.
They dont look sore any more so i will see how she gets on for now.

I have double checked and it is a 7 day gap between differant treatments. Glad things have settled down for you.
