Carp Pox or something worse?

Hi All,
A quick pic taken at lunch so not the best, but having seen the other ongoing post on dermocystidium on the tail, just hoping this wasnt the same.
I shall try and get better pics at the weekend, but main concern is the apparent veining either side of the lumps.
Mark

Hello Mark,
I can't see your pictures at the moment (viewing from work). If you haven't already, read the thread that Duncan has posted a link to, which may be of interest. I'm sure you will have better success than I have so far. I'm not sure how advanced your case is, but I wouldn't delay treatment - I ignored the condition for a while (not knowing what it was) and I think this was a mistake. I will try to look at the pictures you have attached at some point.
Wishing the best for you.

Hi guys,
Thats what I was thinking
I shall bowl and assess this weekend (Sunday) with a view to treating, just need to get some supplies sorted, as the scalpel isnt something I have needed to date, so suggested sources for the gear I will need welcome.
Its relateively small, so I was hoping it wouldnt be as problematic as yours has turned out Paul, but I guess from your thread its a 'once only' attempt to nail the problem.
Fingers crossed and I shall have to get some lock&seal on order as well.
Mark

Aaargh. I've now seen the pictures and yes, this is very much how mine started.
I had a 'local' source for scalpel blades and had a couple of scalpel handles that I've had for ever, so can't help much there, but am sure others can advise.
Good luck.

Is there a particular style or size you would recommend?

Mark,
I have a "number 3" handle and use those style blades you have linked too.

thats exaclty the style you want although i have the other too, for the beginner don't but the sharp pointed type you will do immense damage with that cuz you cant really do a scraping action with them with out puncturing at the same time
there you go job done

Hello Mark,
May I ask a question, just out of interest.
I noticed last year that my Chagoi had an odd behaviour and I put it down to some parasite. I noticed this really only when she was feeding, where on some occasions she would look as if something had made her 'jump'. I don't mean jump out of the water as in the 'normal' sense, but she would sometimes (very) suddenly move upwards such that her head would come out of the water, sometime she would suddenly jerk to the side, always followed by swimming away from the food, towards the bottom of the pond. She is occasionally doing this again now and I wonder whether this could be the dermo causing some irritation.
Just wondered whether you had noticed anything remotely similar?
Cheers
Paul T.

Hi Paul,
The chag here seems absolutely fine in all other sense, so not seen any of the symptoms you describe, but with the covers on, they are not watched over so much to notice odd behavioral issues.
I am hoping with the covers off this coming weekend, time to check for longer!
