Simply Koi and More Koi

I now have a nice(or not so nice) coating of BW on the pond walls. Now, I quite like the look of it rather than just a wall, but it's now staring to 'collect' in the primary and secondary vortex. I'm at 15c and fed once/twice a day, in full sunlight(when we have it).
Would it be correct to say that my nitrate reading would be very low as this is why the BW is growing and the nitrate is feeding the weed ?.........why is it here already ?.......am I feeding too much ?.

I'm also starting to get some foam on surface, not sure if this is all to do with NPS as pond was only re-started last July. Water changes done every day, or every other day if I'm working.

I have used BW treatments in the past and will do again, just wondered why it's here so quickly.......just wish it would stay as a nice little carpet

i have the same issue, blanket weed has gone nuts. unheated but in good sunlight with some feed going to the koi and some to the sturgeon.

i have just treated with Orchard Fisheries blanket weed treatment which is done 3 times in one month early in the season then a dose once a month. this keeps the furry look tot he sides with out the long ugly strands. i am at dose number one and already the weed is starting to die.

it works very well, sturgeon friendly and does not knock back the filter as long as you contiue to airate and take out the dead weed.

Welsh sunlight

Mine's the same Carl must be the welsh water!!!! I treated with Cloverleaf yesterday ( 1/2 the recomended dose ) seems to be doing the job...

with cloverleaf never use ther stated does rate go half or even 1 quarter dose trust me on this it will work and light dosing

another trick is to is to remove the real long stuff with a cane push the can into the long strands and twist the weed will grip the cane and you can pull most off it off the walls you need sharp knife to cut it off the cane though

once most of the long stuff is gone you will get away with the light dose and you want have so much blocking your bottom drains

Hi I only use a half dose works for me

i dont noothing about this but used it years ago [clarisan]never got blanket and you only need a small dose dont think you can buy it now
