Bob the deeper the pond gets the less grass wil be visible...

why not put an advert in the local press for the topsoil... bag it up and sell it for £2.00 per bag... local enterprise is the key...

I have loads of room for the soil so i am going to use it for a bit of shaping seeing as the garden is pretty square, shapewise..

Rome wasn't built in a day mate..
plus i've been struck down all weekend with the flu,and with work commitments i can see it taking a while as its a case of doing bits when i can...

Hi Jason,
Just remember as you dig down it looks smaller so that when you start removing a bit more from the sides
It worked for me if you look at the pictures the new pond was going to be the size of the pergola and it grew a bit
