Re: How much UV
what size pump are you using .... UV's should be sized against flow rate not gallonage. Flow too fast past the UV and it wont do its job ...
For example looking at the TMC range of UV's (pondclear/proclear)
25W max flow rate 2000 gals/hr
30W max flow rate 3000 gals/hr
55W max flow rate 4000 gals/hr
110W max flow rate 8000 gals/hr
hope that helps

Re: How much UV
In the TMC range , the max is the max flow rate for the given wattage
so you can flow up to 4000 gph through 55W ... so 2000 is fine, but false economy.... why spend on a 55W when a 25W will do and a 30W has additional headroom. Remember you not only pay additional for the larger UV but you also pay in electricity for the extra 25 or 30 watts.

Re: How much UV
its worth mentioning that i believe the wattage ratings are for the output of of the uv lamp and not for the electricity used for example i have a tmc 110 uv lamp which has 2x55 watt lamps the electricity used for this is 78 watts
