Pond filling

Hi
Does anybody know how to calculate how much soil i will need to fill a pond with 4000gals?

4000 gal is approx 18,180 litres, 1000 litres to a cubic metre, therefore 18.18 cubic metres, but that would be for perfectly compacted ground with no air holes, voids etc, I would suggest that you start with around 12 cube and compact in layers of around 250 - 300mm (10" - 12") to avoid the ground settling later and giving you dips etc.

Forgot to add, the above info is assuming the whole 4000 gals is in the ground.

im about to dig out a 5000 g pond. your welcome to come collect the soil :)
