Max Gravitation Flow through Pipes

Post by fkn001 »

I came across the following table for the Maximum gravitational flow through PVC or similar pipes of various sizes. believe it should be understood it is in a straight line, i.e. not accounting for any bends, and at a reasonable length, say max 10 meters, and with a pump to run the the water through the pipe like in a normal gravitational filter system.

does anyone know if this table can be used as a rule of thumb or have better information available

16mm 768 L/h
20mm 1200 L/h
25mm 1875 L/h
32mm 3072 L/h
40mm 4800 L/h
63mm 11907 L/h
90mm 24300 L/h
110mm 36300 L/h
125mm 46875 L/h
140mm 58800 L/h
160mm 76800 L/h

Strangely enough this was found on an aquarium site.....must be some aquariums those guys are running :D
