Simply Koi and More Koi

I have a friend who will be fixing 2" kingspan to his newly built walls, prior to having it fibreglassed.

What methods have people who have done this, used to fix the kingspan?

No nails perhaps?

Another type of tube 'glue' perhaps?

Any difference when doing the floor at all, I guess this isnt going to go anywhere?

Also if No nails, anyone who has used this stuff, roughly how many tubes for 55 square metres?

i used a simple & cheap wallboard adhesive from my local builders merchant. "pink grip" comes highly recommended, but what i used was cheaper & did the job perfectly.
i just blobbed it onto the blockwork and pressed the baords firmly into place. a good bead around skimmer/window/returns etc and all edges at the top especially.

I just used a B&Q No Nails they were selling in bulk cheap, you need to use really good size dot and dabs on the back of the board, I was using maybe 3/4 a tube per board. Floor no I didn't bother. Other thing get some silver foil tape from travis perkins or simillar to do the joints as other types of tape will melt and distort when resin applied.

The tape used, any more info on that? Is it simialr to the silver tape used to seal the ends of poly carb?

and your 3/4 tube per sheet, size of the sheet 4' x 2' or perhaps larger?

The 3/4tube was on 8x4 sheets. The foil tape I think it's probably the same stuff as I only found one type in builders merchants.

We used Pink Grip here, found it for about a £1 a tube from memory online, I can find the link if you need it. Used about the same as Stuart i think, between 1/2 and 3/4 per 8x4 sheets.

Silver foil / aluminium tape works a treat and can be picked up from any diy centre, just helps smooth out a bit

We use insulation wall plugs on any ponds we fit boards to. There very cheap and easy to install .

How are they used Mark?

Drill, Rawlplug, then bang in these plugs?

What about on the surface, does the head of the plug show up?

I used 50mm clout nails from wickes (the large head ones) no problems as going into 9x9x18 block walls. Used the silver tape as described to cover joints.

Just remember, no more nails and these types of adhesive react when exposed to water/damp. I.e. lose their sticking proerties.

Always check the individual types.

Hi Bob , yes you just drill a 8mm hole hammer in plug then the pin gets hammered into plug to secure it, once your finished i just go round with a roll off duct tape and tape all joints and cover plug heads this does a good job of hiding any trace of plugs after you f/g.
