gelcoat

Hi all
I have almost finish my pond but will be adding a waterfall, so when i have done my fiberglassing apply my gelcoat, I have a bit of mortar aroung the coping stone showing will i be able to apply direct on to it just to hide the mortar joint with the remainding gelcoat

Dave,

Hopefully you are saying 'gelcoat' and you mean 'topcoat/flowcoat? Gelcoat must not be applied as the finishing layer on a pond as it has no wax in it and the gelcoat will not cure fully. Topcoat/Flowcoat does have wax in it and this comes to the surface and seals the resin fully in air.

You can apply it to the mortar to hide it, just brush it on, but if it is topcaot/flowcoat, it will not stick to topcoat/flowcoat due to the wax in it. Just rub it down slightly with some rough sandpaper to get a key to it.

yes flowcoat it has wax in its whats left from when i did my pond
