Must check pond though, as the waste from my RO unit goes into the pond to save water! It's not all good though, the Nitrate levels are pretty high, part of the reason I use RO for all my tropicals. That and they're mainly wild South American and African cichlids from waters with TDS around 0! (Slight exageration!) Wouldn't keep trops without RO now, so I'm not against it altogether!

Hi Ed,
Depending on you original TDS and how much waste from your RO and the size of your pond you could have a higher TDS then you think.

Just looked at TDS readings again today and finally tested the pond.
Mains water going into RO - 126
Pond water - 189
Shockingly my 'soft' acidic planted tanks range from 324 to 177! Time for some larger water changes indoors....
(I'm pretty sure these readings are mainly down to the fertilisers added to the tank water to help the plants grow, so aren't that bad in reality!)
