Fixed very similar to yours Gazza. The air pipe to the air ring is in solvent welded overflow pipe, so very large bore.

The concept of using "isolators" instead of valves is interesting. I don't quite understand how you made those, cause I don't know what are the "rubber toilet pan connectors" you mention.
Found this: Kwickfit 90 Degree Connector - 9" Tail with Fin Gasket (picture below)
Is something like this what you have used?
I can imagine they act as a big plug that you can fit in and out whithout getting your hands wet. Is that right?

Maybe nothing to do with, but somehow these isolators remind me of standpipes.

That's it diego, but just the rubber bit on the bottom, not the whole thing.

Diego,

This is what I did, see if it makes sense:

Take one of these

And saw of the bit at the bottom. Den Braven, or gold seal the rubber part onto the pipe stub which is left.

Buy one of these, which I think is 3" to 2"

Solvent glue it inside the pipe stub

Glue a length of 2" waste pipe inside it, and you have something which will push inside a 4" pipe.

Used with a 'T' instead of a bend, it pushes down into the bottom drain pipe to isolate the flow!

Yep, crystal clear now. :D
Quite clever, Bob!
That is a neat DIY gadget, I like the idea of saving some big valves.
Well done and thanks for the pics.

Hi,

So will you just fit 4" standpipes during normal operation?

Thanks,

Daniel
