REPAINTING OVER G4
Hi.... i am new to this site and wondered if you could answer this...Have used G4 on new raised pond (blue) and noticed stains appearing on the floor G4 have not heard of this before annd sent complemetary paint to recoat we have had go at sanding down as told but only hitting the high points of the rendering (not the best but good enough) thus not getting a really good surface to repaint originally was going to do areas only but think it will be better to do floor and walls now used a belt sander but leaves quite a smooth surface any ideas......Thanks

Re: REPAINTING OVER G4
Hi,
Re-painting over G4 is not the best idea, but you've started.................. so now you'll have to finish.
Best way forward is this way, yes use the belt sander but use a really course gritted paper belt 40 or 60 grit!! Yes you will end up taken of the high spot's on the render you cant odds that, once you have done that get yourself some Acetone, normally from the fibre-glass suppliers.
Hoover, sweep out as much dust as poss, then use the acetone to wash the walls, floor etc, wear gloves when doing this, it dries out really quickly & leaves a matt surface finish, your pond is now ready to be re-painted, apply the first coat wait till it goes tacky before applying the second coat & again leave to go tacky before the 3rd & final coat.
Hope that helps you out!!

Re: REPAINTING OVER G4
Thanks for the advice......also wondered if there was any other product we could use straight on top or will there not be enough hold for it ? cant believe this is what is holding us up and its quite time consuming ( last time 4 coats nearly 6 hours.)..started in April was expecting it to be all over by now !
